Job overview

Sacred Heart School is looking to appoint a well organised and energetic teacher of Physical Education to join our highly successful and supportive department in September.  The post would be suitable for either newly qualified, or more experienced teachers looking for an opportunity to develop their careers.

Physical Education at Sacred Heart is an extremely popular option at GCSE and we have recently added Cambridge Technicals PE option at KS5, which is currently well subscribed. The core PE offer at KS 3/4 is enhanced through our extra-curricular provision across a range of sports including gymnastics, netball, football, hockey, rugby, cricket, tennis, swimming and athletics.    Sacred Heart has enthusiastic pupils and many are naturally gifted across a wide range of sporting disciplines.

Sacred Heart Catholic School is a very successful and oversubscribed 11-19 school in Southwark, London. We are a Catholic school with very strong moral values and a traditional approach to behaviour and discipline; we believe in honesty and trust. Sacred Heart School consistently achieves outstanding academic results way above local and national averages in every subject area.  We also have an exceptional record of helping our pupils to achieve more than they think is possible: we are regularly in the top 5% of all secondary schools in the UK on Academic Value Added tables.  Our excellent record of achievement is a testament to the strength, determination and sheer hard work of this community and this has been reflected in our most recent OFSTED inspection in which we achieved “outstanding” in all categories.

The successful candidate will:

• Have the ability to engage and enthuse students through high quality learning experiences

• Have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour

• Be an outstanding practitioner

• Have the ability to inspire and motivate students

• Be enthusiastic, resourceful and committed to securing student progress

We expect you to be passionate about ensuring the best possible physical education for every one of our students. You will be a creative teacher who is ambitious for the students you teach and your own career development.

Applications will be considered as they are submitted and the School reserves the right to interview suitable applicants before the deadline.

Sacred Heart is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and aspects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.  The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
