Job overview

Holy Cross College is seeking to appoint a temporary Teacher of Physical Education (0.8 - FTE) to commence on the 21st August 2024.

You will join us on a salary of £30,500 to £47,133 per annum per annum (pro-rata), plus excellent benefits!

At Holy Cross, we deliver OCR A Level Physical Education. A large proportion of our students obtain qualifications which enable them to pursue their studies at degree level with a view to entering a career related to PE / Sport.

Alongside our classroom delivery, we also have an outstanding programme of Enrichment run by our Director of Sport. Students have access to an extensive extra-curricular programme which has been planned and implemented with the college mission and ethos very much in mind; a variety of sporting opportunities and equality of access is promoted to encourage inclusion and high levels of learner participation. The standards of conduct, discipline, attitude, behaviour and respect have earned the college a well-deserved reputation for sportsmanship and fair play in addition to the highest levels of achievement and success.

Our strong tradition of sporting extra-curricular and enrichment activities include: a wide variety of competitive settings, including the AoC National finals (currently National Champions in Netball and Girls’ Cross Country). In the summer term, the PE Department organises a range of sporting and recreational opportunities for students and staff including, (amongst others), a trip to Wimbledon.

The department prides itself on the quality and variety of teaching and the support it provides for students. The department remains committed to getting the very best from its staff and from our students and there are frequent training opportunities allowing staff to update their skills and knowledge. There are also a number of staff who contribute towards the sports programme as well as self-employed instructors who are usually responsible for a specific sports team.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative, enthusiastic and skilled curriculum teacher to join our successful team and very much welcome applications from those working in either the school and college sectors. The post is offered on a temporary basis until December 2024 to cover maternity leave, part-time 0.8FTE.  There is also the opportunity to be considered for the temporary Director of Sport role, also until December 2024.
