We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic teachers who embody high aspirations and are committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning.  It would be desirable but not essential that candidates can teach a second subject and/or have a passion for Project Based Learning.

Our ambition is for Space Studio West London to be a world demonstration site for raising the aspirations of the entire community and for raising levels of achievement beyond excellence.

Teaching and learning at Space Studio West London will be primarily focused on Project Based Learning. In addition, since the Studio School has a small intake we are able to be flexible with working hours.

Space Studio West London is a secondary with sixth form in Feltham, Greater London, teaching students from the ages of 14-18. The school specialises in Space, Aerospace, Science and Maths, and is provisioned to accommodate 300 students, with 75 in each year group. Aspects of the curriculum will be developed and delivered by staff from the UK Space Agency, ESA and the National Space Academy programme. All students in Years 12 and 13 will follow at least three mainstream A level or Level 3 BTEC courses alongside real industry led project work assignments.

Students at the Studio School will have close links and regular visits with the scientific research organisations and companies. The school is based on the Rivers Academy West London Campus, whose nearest Tube station is Hatton Cross on the Piccadilly line. The area of Feltham has a population of 27,000, and is known for its close proximity to Heathrow Airport.

Space Studio West London delivers an exciting new design for Scientific and Mathematical Learning – a vibrant combination of high quality scientific education and industry-related interaction that will equip young people with the abilities and qualifications they need to prevail in competitive job markets. The aim of the school is to ensure that young people are well equipped to become skilled technicians, operators, engineers, scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs in aerospace and space related industries.

Core Projects are central to the education of students at Space Studio West London. Project based learning is about students developing and executing an extended project that creates a publicly exhibited output such as a product, publication, or exhibition. Each Core Project proposes a key question or hypothesis for students to investigate, and they will also be expected to originate a product and display their findings to a wider audience.
