Interview date: TBC

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and committed teacher of Religious Studies to join our department from September 2021 on a maternity contract.

The appointee candidate will relish the opportunities of working within a successful and experienced department. You will be required to maintain the high academic standards of the department, bring excellent interpersonal skills and an infectious passion for your subject. The successful candidate will be expected to teach to GCSE Eduqas Specification B and potentially teach Eduqas A level, too.

The successful candidate will share in our vision for Catholic Education as part of a successful and experienced Religious Education department, which is committed to raising academic standards for all students whilst supporting the spiritual and moral development of the whole person.

Our Religious Studies Department aims to encourage each pupil to gain knowledge and understanding of what it means to be a Catholic Christian, to understand and appreciate the views and beliefs of other Christian communities and world faiths. Through Religious Studies, and with the close liaison with the college chaplain, students are encouraged to embark on a journey that will lead them to a clear and reasoned awareness of their own beliefs while helping them to understand that being a positive member of society means being able to respect and understand the beliefs and values of others. The Religious Studies department is supported in this work by all department areas throughout the college.

St Augustine’s has a tradition of academic achievement, with an ethos that emphasises high quality pastoral care and personal development for all children. Working at our College provides the opportunity to further your professional development as part of a highly experienced and professional team. Willingness to contribute to our extra-curricular programme would be an advantage.

If you join as an NQT you will be part of an established and extensive NQT programme, benefiting from the support and expertise of mentors including Lead Practitioners. All teachers are able to continue developing their pedagogy through accessing our SSAT and TEEP training programmes, and to benefit from collaborations with Clifton diocese, local schools and the international network of Lasallian schools.

The college is located in West Wiltshire, within an easy commute of the cities of Bath and Bristol.

If you are passionate about your subject and have a strong desire to make a difference to young people’s lives, whilst fulfilling your own potential, then we would love to hear from you.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 23 May 2021. Interviews will take place very shortly after. Please send your application to Naomi Turner, HR Manager, hr@st-augustines.wilts.sch.uk. No other material (such as testimonials, résumés or CVs) will be considered during the selection process.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. References will be requested before interviews take place, and you will be required to bring your identification documents with you on the day of the interview. We follow safer recruitment practices and appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an Equal Opportunities Employer.
