Job overview

Richmond Park Academy (RPA), is part of the Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) group and is situated in East Sheen, close to Richmond Park. Richmond, Kingston and the West End are all between 15 and 30 minutes journey from the school and our proximity to central London means that students can benefit enormously from the vast range of social, cultural, sporting and academic opportunities that we are able to access.

Our student body is diverse, exciting and talented – and the same is true of our staff.  We put huge emphasis on professional development, most of it in-house, and are proud of the high number of good and outstanding teachers who work in our school.  We are also noted for our ‘can do’ attitude.  We are keen, always, to encourage new and/or young staff to make their mark as soon as they are ready.

The school completed a £10m rebuild and refurbishment programme, including the introduction of a 6th form in 2014. Our 2012 Ofsted reported that we were a ‘good’ school in all categories.  The inspector wrote: “Leaders and managers share a commitment to drive up standards, provide a broad and sturdy foundation for students’ future well-being and establish the academy as the school of choice within its locality”.

The science faculty is a vibrant and dynamic department with a wide range of backgrounds and specialisms within our teachers. We offer all three sciences at KS5 which are very popular.  We boast newly refurbished labs and state of the art equipment for practical’s. The successful candidate would be expected to teach at all levels.

We are looking for a highly skilled and confident Science Teacher who has the ability to inspire pupils and a candidate who has the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively and who wants to give their time and energy to leading extracurricular activities.

If you wish to be a part of our team you will be an excellent teacher with a passion and flair for the subject and the teaching of it. He or she will be an ambitious, committed and hardworking team player who will support the Academy in continuing to raise the profile and ongoing success of the subject area, and, more widely, the academy.

Whether you are just starting out in the profession or have more experience you will be part of a highly motivated Science faculty and if you strive for excellence and enjoy doing things well you will have the opportunity to develop your own practice and to try new things.

As  the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them.  In each of our academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes.  You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme, childcare vouchers and Westfield rewards.

This position is required to commence 1 January 2018
