The science department is a large, vibrant team, with a mix of experienced and new teachers; we are fortunate to be supported by five technicians and two dedicated learning support assistants. Staff are encouraged to take a full role within the team, contributing ideas to discussions in order to ensure the department continually improves; we value our staff voice.
Rawlins is an oversubscribed school with 1580 students on roll, including 370 in post 16, 50 students in Skills for Learning, which provides students with moderate learning difficulties a special school experience within a mainstream environment, and 8 students in The Base, a specialist provision for students with high functioning autism. We pride ourselves on being a beacon of inclusion. Our aim is to give our students the best experience of school life, allowing our students to find their talents and their passions. We do this through a broad and balanced curriculum but we can’t do this without dedicated, energetic and passionate teachers who put the students at the heart of everything they do.
