Camborne Science & International AcademyCornwall

The Role

We seek a well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspiring colleague to join our highly regarded and successful Science Faculty.  We seek the very best teachers who can consistently teach good or better lessons.  You will be able to enthuse and motivate our students with your passion for Science, presence and personality.

Science is a high achieving and dynamic faculty.  Results are outstanding and students make excellent progress.  Members of the team are totally committed to ensuring successful outcomes for our students.  At post-16 we currently offer Biology, Chemistry, Physics and BTEC Human Biology very popular and highly successful options for our VI Form students.  The ability to teach to A-level is helpful, but not a pre-requisite for the post.

Our School

Camborne Science & International Academy is a friendly, dynamic and innovative school in the heart of beautiful West Cornwall, which affords a high quality of life. The Real Schools Guide 2016 awarded us Best State Secondary School in Cornwall.  We are one of Cornwall’s most consistently high performing state secondary schools.  In an independent survey parents judged us to be outstanding for exam results, discipline, teaching quality, facilities and leadership/management.

CSIA has developed exceptional International Science and Mathematics links with top schools in Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China and South Korea.  Recent collaboration has involved joint research projects, International Science and Mathematics fairs and competitions, as well as many significant student/staff visits and exchanges.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in this amazing and unique programme.

We are delighted to have opened the doors to NEXUS, CSIAs Centre of Excellence for STEM and Liberal Arts.  The aim is to develop young learners who are able to pick and choose from the best courses at the very best universities worldwide; young people who have a wealth of research experience from working with some of the best academics in their field of interest. These young people will be among those who devise the solutions for the most pressing problems faced by mankind, and Nexus will equip them for this bright future.

Applicants

Applications from experienced colleagues and Newly Qualified Teachers are equally welcome.  We have an outstanding NQT Induction programme to offer support to new staff.  The person appointed will be given full support in their career development as we believe that development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our students.  Camborne Science and International Academy is an Equal Opportunities Employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
