Teacher of Science - Dolphin School, is seeking to appoint an inspirational & creative Science teacher to work within our small, but enthusiastic Science department. All students from Years 3 -8 visit the Science laboratory three times per week. Science is central to a Dolphin child’s education and is carried out with great energy. From the earliest years in our EYFS through to Y8, we aim to foster and develop a passion for Science. We develop the tool kit of skills required for a young scientist to become an independent, practical scientist at secondary school and beyond.
This includes hypothesis development, experimental planning, preparing and using scientific equipment, data collection and reporting and the drawing of conclusions. This is done in a stepwise manner, often focusing on one skill in each experiment. A wide set of resources are used and this may be in our new science laboratory, outside in the school grounds or on one of our many science based trips. Combining this hands on approach with plenty of lively discussion, the children gain a thorough understanding of a wide range of physics, biology and chemistry topics that allows them to succeed in the exams they may encounter in future years.

Associated costs of trips are included in the fees, and there are around 60 day trips and at least 13 residential and international trips each year.
Whether in Maths, English, Science, Drama or Sport, students regularly win major scholarships to England’s leading public schools and places at the most sought after local grammar schools. More importantly, the love of learning developed at Dolphin helps them become interesting people, leading fulfilling lives.
Today the school has a flourishing Old Delphinian group who frequently attend reunions and visit the school to offer workshops in their fields of expertise, or talk to the children.
