Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and committed teacher to join our Science team from 1 September 2021.

The successful candidate will be joining our school at an exciting time. Students taking AQA combined science or AQA separate sciences to GCSE have enjoyed considerable success. Separate science is the most popular option of the current year 9 for GCSE and we are considering an increase in the number of separate biology, chemistry and physics classes going forward.

Key Stage 3 science is taught to all year 7 and 8 students, concentrating on the skills and concepts that will be later required for GCSE, with an emphasis on practical. In year 9 we introduce students to the GCSE content using a scheme of work intended to make the transition to GCSE less of a hurdle, again we focus on the practical skills required in the sciences. All students study at least AQA combined science to GCSE with the separate sciences available as an option for those students who are most committed.

The candidate for this post should be able to deliver science at KS3 and combined science KS4, the ability to offer at least one of the separate GCSE sciences would be highly desirable.

Hampton High was judged “good” by Ofsted in 2019 and has been oversubscribed for the past three years, with numbers increasing throughout the school monthly. We are passionate about the progress of all learners and have a comprehensive programme of professional development for all staff. All visitors to our school comment on the high standards of behaviour, high levels of student engagement in lessons and the warmth and pride with which students talk about their school. We would encourage you to read our Ofsted report prior to making an application. We also recommend that you look at the videos and information posted on our website under “open events” to get a real sense of who we are. We would also be very happy to arrange for you to visit our school, observing our social distancing and covid-safe measures. Should you like to visit the school, please contact Kirsty.martin@hamptonhigh.org.uk to arrange a tour and speak to the Headteacher.

Hampton High is a mixed, 11-18 comprehensive school and is part of the Richmond West Schools Trust.  The trust operates collaboratively with a group of local schools which are working in partnership to improve outcomes for learners locally.
