Phoenix is a multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving 1800 students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students. Our sixth form of around 250 students offers a broad array of L3 academic and vocational qualifications.
Over recent years examination results have been improving rapidly and this year’s early un-validated progress measure is +0.08 (FFT). Due to expansion as student numbers grow, we are seeking to appoint a highly talented and innovative, qualified teacher of Science to join our friendly and supportive team. You will have a confident understanding of the curriculum and the ability to inspire excellent learning.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher to develop their passion for learning and create a positive and inspiring learning environment for our students. This will suit a teacher who has a proven track record of results and looking for a new challenge in a successful Science department. As a school we have a fabulous CPD offer to support colleagues at whatever point in their career they are from our ITT to our senior leaders.

About Phoenix
Phoenix is the largest secondary school in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning, and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students. Phoenix was one of only a few schools nationally to benefit from the government’s priority schools building programme, and our state-of-the-art facilities which opened in 2017 are second to none. But we have not stopped there, with additional MUGAs, a climbing wall, low-level assault course and new teaching walls in every classroom with new interactive screens already added. By September 2025, we aim to have a new classroom block with gym facilities, as well as a 3G soccer pitch.
