OFSTED 2016

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and ambitious Special Education Needs Teacher of Maths to join our popular and oversubscribed STEM specialist academy. Specialising in Maths and Numeracy you will be working alongside the Maths teams and SENCO. Applications are welcome from both experienced and newly qualified teachers.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Maths Teacher who has SEN experience in a mainstream or SEN school and is used to keeping pupils engaged and progressing in their academics. The pupils you will be teaching have a variety of needs including SEMH, Autism and Speech and Language. In this role you will be teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The UCL Academy’s SEND department is committed to recruiting talented, highly skilled individuals to support the provision for students in need of learning support. Combining subject knowledge with an expertise in particular areas of need (such as ASD, SEMH and SLCN), the LSA team is deployed by the SENDCo and Deputy SENCo to support pupils in accessing the broad and balanced curriculum offered to all learners at the Academy. The SEN team also benefits from the in-house expertise of a Speech and Language Therapist and Educational Psychologist, enabling a flexible approach to specialist intervention. Working alongside the Maths team, you will plan and teach a curriculum which is both inspiring and engaging and includes creative ideas, lively activities and enriching activities. We aim to teach our students to be confident, questioning and independent mathematicians; to be able to make connections between maths in their other subjects and maths in context in the world outside.
