Job overview
We are seeking an inspirational Teacher of Sociology to join our energetic school which has a core purpose of striving for exceptional learning. We achieved our first round of GCSE results in 2017 and are excited by the opportunities and rewards of this subject. This is an area of significant growth for the school.
This is strong career move for a new or established teacher. Joining us, you will receive:
● excellent professional development
● a strong induction to our provision and systems
● mentoring from an experienced colleague
Our focus is to ensure the subject continues to improve levels of student attainment and inspire young people to become passionate about Sociology with GCSE and A-Level groups from Years 9 to 13.
The school has a developed provision with academic express streams and a strong house system. All students in year 7 and 8 take part in enrichment activities and there are many opportunities for student trips and events. A two week October half term builds flexibility for staff into this programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a school that focuses relentlessly on raising standards and invests in the development of both staff and students. In March 2017, we were graded as being a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted and we have a clear mission to be Outstanding by 2020.
We proudly serve our local community, attracting students from a wide range of backgrounds and are part of GLF Schools, which is a supportive family of 27 schools. Successful candidates will have exceptional career development opportunities as a colleague in this group.
For an informal discussion about the post, please call Paul Cuthbert, Deputy Headteacher.

We reserve the right to call candidates to interview prior to application deadline or withdraw this vacancy at any time ahead of the closing date if there is a good level of response. Therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible.
References may be requested upon receipt of your application, so please state if you wish this to be delayed until shortlisting/interview date.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Our aim as a school is to provide a world-class education where students can fulfil their potential and grow into happy, kind and well-rounded individuals. We strive for students to develop their resourcefulness, and resilience, accept responsibility and be challenged to take risks in order to learn and succeed.
We want all students to achieve the best possible qualifications, so that as many doors as possible are open to them in the future. Equally, we are also committed to our students gaining key skills that prepare them for life in the 21st century and for them to become passionate about life-long learning beyond the classroom.
We have high expectations of each other and recognise that everyone learns differently. We expect our students to work hard and behave well both inside and outside of the classroom.
