Employment Opportunity -  Teacher of Spanish (Full-Time) 

Situated on a spacious, leafy campus with impressive facilities, SJI International High School is an independent coeducational Lasallian Catholic day school. Currently in its eleventh year, the school has grown steadily and enjoys an outstanding reputation for quality education in Singapore. The school follows a Southern Hemisphere academic year (January to December). The student body numbers some 1040 students (aged 12 - 18), with 390 IB Diploma students in Grades 11 and 12. Academic standards are very high. The average IB Diploma score for our most recent cohort of students was 37.2 points (in 2016), with 32.4% of our students achieving 40 points or more (a record for the school). Our most recent A*/A pass rate at IGCSE was 68% (34% at A*). 

Academic excellence is, however, only part of the SJI International story. The school prides itself on its values driven and holistic programme. This includes service (a central part of our mission) and leadership programmes, an extensive range of co-curricular activities and an exciting outdoor education programme. Teacher of Spanish 

The European Languages Department at SJI International prides itself on the quality and authenticity of the relationships our staff have with our students. The Department empowers students to use the language creatively through the use of authentic and relevant source material, and instills in them an appreciation of the target language culture. Spanish is taught as a beginner's language from Grade 7 to 12, through the IGCSE and IB DP (SL and HL) programmes. We are looking for an experienced Spanish Language teacher (ideally with an IGCSE and IB background), who is looking for an exciting opportunity to collaborate with colleagues on our perpetual quest for improvement and innovation.  Please visit our website for more details.

Additional Requirements

For all teaching posts the successful candidates will have a good first degree in their teaching specialism, a recognised teaching qualification and a proven track record as inspirational teachers (all required to obtain a Singapore teaching licence). The ability to teach across the age and ability range from Grade 7 (12 year-olds) to IB Diploma level is preferred unless a middle school / IB Diploma specialism is specifically stated. Significant training and development opportunities are available for teachers (both in-house and through external providers) and the desire to take part in and contribute to collaborative school and personal development is essential.
