Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Brent Deaf and Hearing Impaired Service as a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf. The successful candidate will work 5 days per week supporting Deaf and hearing impaired children and young people in homes, mainstream/special schools and post 16 establishments from the ages of 0 to 25 across Brent.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and committed, able to work as part of a team. You will:
- Perform the tasks and duties of a specialist teacher in line with the SEND Code of practice, Children and Families Act 2014 and the Quality Standards for Specialist teaching and support services for deaf children guidelines for professionals.
- Manage and prioritise an assigned caseload of deaf children and young people in family homes and educational settings
- Support Brent educational settings in meeting the needs of deaf children and young people
- Provide effective specialist support for deaf children, young people and their families
You will have BSL Level 1, with BSL Level 2 desirable.
Full time, Temporary: Sabbatical leave cover for 6 months: From 1st September 2022 to 28th February 2023
Hours: 27, 5 hours a week - term time only - (please apply if you are interested in a part-time position as this can be negotiated)
Rates of pay: MPS/UPS and 1/2 SEN dependent on qualification
