An opportunity to join a new and exciting team at Ocean Academy Poole

Permanent vacancies commencing September 2018.

Ocean Academy Poole is a new three form entry junior academy which opened in September 2015 close to the centre of Poole. It has gained an excellent reputation locally and is already oversubscribed. It currently has Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils and from 2018 will be at full capacity when those pupils reach Year 6.

Ocean Academy Poole belongs to the Aspirations Academies Trust. We are passionate about excellence in education, giving pupils the very best start in life with a firm belief that excellent teaching transforms lives. Our core belief is that for all students to have high aspirations they must believe in themselves, be actively engaged in their learning and see the connection between what they learn today and who they want to become tomorrow.

All of the schools within our Trust are judged as good or outstanding.

With great students who behave impeccably, an outstanding team of staff, state of the art facilities, and very pleasant locations in beautiful Dorset, our academies offer excellent opportunity for ambitious, talented individuals looking to develop their career. Ofsted have highlighted our Trust’s very effective staff training, support and outstanding CPD.

Our South Coast Academies (Bournemouth, Poole and Portland) are seeking to appoint several full time, permanent teachers for September 2018 into vacancies which cover the full primary age range.  Applications are invited from newly qualified and experienced teachers, both of whom will be offered support, encouragement and opportunities to flourish.  We are looking for positive, talented and creative individuals to join our teaching teams – we require teachers who believe, like us, that

Self-worth, Engagement and Purpose

are key drivers to outstanding teaching and learning.

Come and help us build the traditions of the school; and be part of the collaborative team that is developing our policies and practices together.

For newly qualified teachers, we can offer:

  • Dedicated non-contact time;
  • Collaborative and supportive teams
  • Coaching and mentoring by experienced staff and leaders

At Ocean Academy, we provide an enriched and challenging ‘No Limits’ curriculum which is fun and engaging and ultimately keeps our children at the heart of everything we endeavour to achieve. The ‘No Limits’ curriculum framework is based around INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION and IMPACT alongside the expectation that the curriculum values ingenuity, creativity and risk-taking.

We believe in developing ‘the whole child’ and ensure high expectations for social, emotional, physical, moral, cultural and academic growth.  It is important to us that the children at Ocean Academy are resilient, determined and believe in their abilities to succeed whilst not being afraid to make a mistake or ‘have another go’. Our children are excited by learning and with a strong pupil voice, they feel safe and highly valued. Our staff are recognised as being a strong team who foster curiosity and creativity in an environment where everyone is  respected.

The facilities at Ocean Academy are modern and diverse and this allows us to promote learning now and for the 21st century. Ocean Academy has its ethos embedded in the Aspirations Academies core belief that for all children to have high aspirations they must believe in themselves, be actively engaged in their learning and see the connection between what they learn today and who they want to become tomorrow. We will strive to realise this for our children as they undertake their own individualised learning journey. More information about Aspirations Academies can be found at www.aspirationsacademies.org.

There are numerous opportunities for parents and carers to support the learning at Ocean Academy and we embrace the value of working closely with parents and the local community to uphold the collegiate approach that leads to successful, life-long learning and positive outcomes for our children. In a recent parent survey, 100% of parents who responded said that they would recommend Ocean Academy to other parents.
