Position Information 

Gorokan High School is a coeducational comprehensive high school, with an academically selective class in each year group. In 2022, the student population will consist of approximately 1000 students, including; 67 students in our Special Education Support classes, 152 identified High Potential & Gifted students & 180 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The school focuses on the needs of individual students by providing a broad-based curriculum of creative, academic and vocational courses, high potential and gifted student programs and personal, social, welfare and ethical development programs. The school has high expectaions of student's ability and the belief that all students can achieve their personal best. Our experienced staff support the needs of our students.

A significant feature of the school is that it is a caring, diversified community, committed to a holistic approach to our student's education. The development of technology is ongoing with the continued access to applications that enhance teaching and learning. Gorokan High School embraces the 'Stronger Smarter' philosophy, emphasising the strengths of Aboriginal Idenity, culture and positive academic achievement. It enjoys a strong regional reputation for its cultural leadership and partnerships with its local Aboriginal community and AECG, Muru Bulbi. Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Science, Physics, Chemistry, and a willingness to teach Marine Studies and STEM (Information and Digital Technologies- VIG).

Highly developed classroom practice with the ability to develop, implement and evaluate innovative, differentiated programs, resources, and assessments that embed formative assessment practices and technology.

Proven capacity to foster student engagement through proactive wellbeing and classroom management strategies which cater to and include a diverse range of student learning abilities and are supportive of a culture of High Expectations

Highly developed interpersonal skills with a proven capacity to collaborate and work as a dynamic member in a positive faculty culture on initiatives that meet the Literacy and Numeracy needs of all students.

Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Educational Policies with the capacity to embed Aboriginal Perspectives that engage and increase all students' knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal peoples.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
