Position Information 

Warrawong High School is a diverse and dynamic school community that reflects the cultural diversity of contemporary Australia. We are part of the Lake Illawarra North network, which forms a collaborative Warrawong Community of Schools. The total student population of Warrawong High School is approximately 600, which include 46% of students with a language background other than English, 11% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and families from 25 different nationalities. Our focus is that every student, teacher, and school leader improve every year. To achieve this, we embrace high expectations in all domains of school life. To enhance student growth and attainment we analyse and reflect upon student performance data and achievement to differentiate and to provide effective feedback that enhances the quality of learning. We proudly house the region's Intensive English Centre, supporting new arrival, refugee, and international students as they enter our country.  We also feature a large and dynamic Special Education Unit, which supports students across the Illawarra with a diverse range of abilities.

The successful applicant will have approval to teach Science 7-12, Stage 6 Biology and Chemistry and will be willing to teach Stage 6 Physics. The role will involve working collaboratively as part of a dynamic and enthusiastic science faculty. The successful applicant will contribute to the school’s achievement of numeracy and reading targets through student engagement, growth, and attainment within the Science curriculum.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Science 7-10, Stage 6 Biology and Chemistry and approval and/or willingness to teach Stage 6 Physics.

Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic Science Faculty to develop evidence-based quality teaching and learning programs and assessments. 

Evidence of effective classroom practice that includes the ability to cater for students with a diverse range of learning need through differentiated curriculum, classroom management and integration of ICT.

Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.

Capacity to contribute to whole school programs as part of an energetic staff focused on student wellbeing and student engagement.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
