Teaching ServiceLismore Heights Public School has a current enrolment of 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Approximately 25% of the student population identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. All our students are taught to respect and celebrate cultural diversity, and we highly value our strong connection with our local elders and AECG.
The school is located above the town of Lismore, overlooking the picturesque mountains to the north and only 30-minute drive to beautiful beaches such as Byron Bay. Our school provides a safe, caring and nurturing environment in which students of all ages and abilities thrive. Lismore Heights Public School is a proud member of ‘The Rivers P-12’ Community of Schools which serves Lismore and its surrounding area. Our schools work collaboratively to provide quality learning experiences for all students living in the Lismore region. The school benefits from three support classes which operate as a support unit catering for students with additional needs.
We focus on high impact, evidence-based initiatives such as data to inform our practice, high expectations in attendance and engagement, explicit teaching in reading and numeracy and collaboration within our school and our wider educational network. As a result, our strategic directions are child-centred and based on a quality education for all.
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with additional learning needs, such as, mental health, emotional disturbance, behaviour difficulties, moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, and other complex support and learning needs.
- Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing with the ability to plan and effectively implement research based individual learning, behaviour and risk management plans with all stakeholders to support the behavioural, social, sensory and wellbeing needs of students.
- Capacity to create an engaging and positive learning environment through the implementation of effective classroom management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively contribute to our whole school culture by working collaboratively with staff members, students, families, and external agencies.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
