Teaching ServiceBogangar Public School is located on the beautiful Tweed Coast in the community of Bogangar/Cabarita Beach and is a member of the Coastal Learning Community. The average student population was 336 with 6% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and 13% having a language background other than English (EALD). Teacher Visual Impairment role
This position is a 0.8 FTE Itinerant Support Teacher Vision based at Bogangar Public School led by an Assistant Principal Vision and working within a small team of Itinerant Support Teachers Vision to provide comprehensive inclusive educational support to children with low vision and blindness in preschool, primary schools, high schools, schools for specific purposes and support classes. The successful applicant will work in a multi-disciplinary team with students, parents and carers, advising learning and support teams and other professionals. They may carry out student assessments, take part in review meetings, support school staff in making teaching and learning adjustments and provide professional learning for school staff. The successful applicant will deliver programs in the Rural North Network areas encompassing the Principal Networks of Lismore, Lennox Coast, Tweed Coast, Richmond and Wollumbin. You will require a current driver’s license and vehicle and be willing to travel between schools to support students across the Rural North Education Network.

· Approval from the NSW Department of Education to teach students with Vision Impairments in primary and secondary schools, including demonstrated skills and knowledge in Braille instruction and transcription.
· Demonstrated evidence informed practice to deliver Expanded Core Curriculum vision programs to support the development of students’ social/emotional wellbeing, safe independent mobility, assistive technology use and other needs specific to Individual Education Plan goals.
· Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven capacity to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external agencies.
· Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning in the field of education of students with vision impairments.
· Knowledge of and commitment to the Department of Education’s relevant disability policies and the policies and protocols supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
