Position Information 

Walgett Community College Primary School is a comprehensive school with an enrolment of approximately 130 students with a 98% Aboriginal student enrolment. Walgett has a population of approximately 2300 and is situated in a remote rural context approximately 280 kilometres north of Dubbo.

The school is part of the Connected Communities strategy and is committed to providing a high-quality education for all students through a diverse, relevant curriculum focusing on literacy, numeracy and student and community engagement. The school is well resourced and has an extensive staff compliment to support student engagement and learning. The school is committed to achieving strong educational outcomes for all Aboriginal students through cultural connections.

Identified students are integrated into mainstream where possible through collaborative planning between the Special Education teacher and classroom teachers with support from the school's Learning and Support Team.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with mild to Moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, challenging behaviours and complex learning needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and successfully implement effective and engaging teaching and learning programs across multiple key learning areas which meet the academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of the students.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement relevant and successful Individual Education Plans and/or Individual Transition Plans for students with specific and diverse learning needs fostering a positive environment and culture of inclusion.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with focus on teamwork, effective communication and building relationships with students, colleagues, parents, external providers and the wider school community.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 

 
Special Notes 

Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (conditions apply) and a relocation support payment of $5,000 to $8,000 for eligible applicants.
