Dear prospective applicant,

Thank you for expressing an interest in this key vacancy at our college. The College has been serving the community since 1950 and continues to be a Good school after last being inspected in May 2019, where Leadership and Management were judged as outstanding.

We are looking to create 3 new posts to support the teaching of languages in September 2019. These sessions will be after school and at weekends. The intention is to bring these languages into the school curriculum but we first want to see how the lessons are received by students before committing to this.

Teacher/Tutor of Gujarati

Teacher/Tutor of Arabic

Teacher/Tutor of Urdu

This is also an opportunity for the right candidate to be trained to become a fully qualified teacher with QTS as we have links with teacher training schools and programmes to support you in forging a career in education.

We are not a College that is driven by OFSTED and whether we are GOOD or OUTSTANDING. We are increasingly moving towards the forefront of educational excellence because we are providing the best educational experience possible for the children in our care.  This is extremely difficult in a climate of ever increasing accountability and diminishing resources. However, I sincerely believe that if we continue to lead this community by staying true to our values then it is possible and achieving such a fantastic report in May 2019 shows that it can be done.

We are very clear that the gender, background, colour, poverty, wealth or social status of a child should have no bearing on how well they perform and staff here work extremely hard in trying to close that gap between the different groups of pupils. We are currently around zero for P8 and have been for the past two years and we know that although our pupils end up in line with pupils nationally they are well below on entry.

We have spent a considerable amount of time with staff and students looking at our mission statement and core values.

“We want every child to be the best they can be, thrive in the best possible career and contribute positively to society.”

This is underpinned by our three core values:

Aspiration – Be the best you can be

Commitment – Do what it takes for as long as it takes

Success- Be ready to take on the world

We have removed lesson observations from the appraisal process and linked it to professional development, thus creating an environment of trust and support. Currently staff are entitled to ‘visits’ and entitled to a professional dialogue to improve their practice. That is a risk we have taken but it is aimed at creating a learning community where teachers can teach and learners can learn without fear.

If you have a love for languages and experience of creating that love amongst students from inner city areas, we would love to hear from you.

I look forward to meeting you and receiving your application.

Yours sincerely,

Mr F Adam

(Principal)
