If you want to work in an academy with children who have positive attitudes to learning, supportive leadership and tailored professional learning opportunities then we want to hear from you!

Here at Meadstead Primary Academy we have a special and unique learning community that is proud to serve the village of Royston, and surrounding areas. Our staff commute not just from Barnsley, but from Wakefield, Doncaster, Sheffield and beyond.

The children benefit from the academy having a shared ethos of excellent teaching and learning, a keen focus of improving maths, literacy and life skills across the curriculum and a specialised Resourced Provision that is fully inclusive within the Academy.

We are looking to appoint an apprentice to join our team and support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils including the provision of specialist skills as appropriate.

After receiving guidance and training, you will:

  • To promote the inclusion of all students.
  • In liaison with the class teacher to work with students to target identified learning needs.
  • To provide practical support in the classroom to students who have recognised learning needs, supporting them to achieve their potential.
  • To work with subject teachers to ensure lesson materials are used effectively in order for students to make the expected progress towards their target levels.

Skills/qualifications required:

  • Good level of IT skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexibly within a team and motivate students
  • Being able to use own initiative
  • Reliability, motivation and resilience under pressure

You will complete a Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning. The work experience gained on the job will support this. Your Assessor will assess you in the workplace approximately every 4 weeks. In between these meetings you will have dedicated time away from your job to work on the apprenticeship and collate evidence for your apprenticeship e-portfolio with ongoing support from your Manager and Assessor.

This is an exciting opportunity to be in a real job within a supportive team, whilst working towards a qualification!

To be eligible for the Apprenticeship, applicants must have resided in the UK or EEA for 3 years prior to the start of the Apprenticeship.  Please note: applicants must not have already completed a Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning within the classroom apprenticeship.

This will be a fixed term contract for 12-24 months.

Please note: AET has their own in house apprenticeship scheme and do not work with any other training providers to deliver Apprenticeships.

As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them.  In each of our AET academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes.
