Salary: Main Pay Scale – Upper Pay Scale plus TLR2.2 £4,528

Cottingham High School has fantastic students, supportive parents, passionate teachers and enormous potential: this is an exciting time to join our school. 100% of our parents would recommend our school to another parent. (Parent View Jan 2019) In May 2017 Ofsted judged the school as good in all areas and the upwards trajectory of our student outcomes continues to evidence this. The class of 2018 delivered our best results ever at GCSE: 72% Basics, and P8 of 0.22 (top 30% of schools nationally). Our Post 16 outcomes placed us in the top 15% of all schools nationally with an ALPs of 3. One parent commented (September 2018) ‘I cannot thank you and the other staff who've supported my son enough. I will be eternally grateful that you all saw my son’s potential, believed in him and have encouraged him to want to achieve.’

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and talented teacher, who is passionate about helping young people to realise their potential, to join and support the leadership of our hugely successful English team and be instrumental in strategic planning for its future.

As well as teaching all Key Stages, the successful candidate will have responsibility for KS3 English. S/he will oversee the design and delivery and review and monitor the effectiveness of schemes of learning at KS3; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching, learning and assessment at KS3 and ensure that staff understand and are actively implementing whole school and area policy, providing challenge and support as necessary. In addition, the successful candidate will develop, implement and lead a reading and literacy strategy across the school, including oversight and management of Lexonic across the curriculum and of Word of the Week.

We invest in all our staff, providing a comprehensive induction programme and outstanding support for NQTs or RQTs and ongoing continuous, personalised, professional development.

We welcome and encourage visits to school, where you will have the opportunity to meet some of our staff, students and the Headteacher to learn a little more about our ethos, vision and journey.

Cottingham High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 9.00am 14 February 2019 Interviews to be held week commencing 25 February 2019
