The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, based across East Sussex, is an aspirational and supportive Trust, aiming to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all staff and pupils feel safe. We are three special schools, a secure unit, a large countywide alternative provision, a vocational free school and one of five teaching schools within East Sussex. We strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement. Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.
The Workplace is a newly opened AP Free school, focussing on our founding principles of rigour, enterprise, industry driven & partnerships and offering high quality vocational education in industry standard settings alongside high quality delivery of Maths, English and Science. The school offers full-time education to students who require a curriculum beyond the mainstream offer. The School is part of the SABDEN MAT, a successful MAT specialising in SEMH and AP education.
We are looking to recruit a number of Teaching Assistant 3 – Mentors, into our expanding team. The role of the Teaching Assistant 3 - Mentor is a key one in our team, supporting a named vocational area and core subjects. Mentors offer classroom support, pastoral support and work with class teachers to develop meaningful programmes. Mentors support the vocational tutors as part of the tutor team and act as a supportive contact for all students.
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and supportive person with an interest in at least one of the following areas: Construction/Automotive/Hospitality/Core & Academic Subjects. Whilst experience of working with young people would be advantageous, the ability to develop and sustain meaningful relationships is key. You should be willing to learn, and keen to develop. While some experience of working with vulnerable young people is preferable, it is not essential and appropriate training will be provided for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be joining a Trust and school that continues to be ambitious in its drive to improve outcomes for our pupils. You will join a highly dedicated and professional staff team and be part of a supportive working and learning environment, where your professional development is highly valued.
The hours of work are Monday – Friday from 8.30am –3.30pm. We are a friendly and supportive team, with additional benefits, such as free daily lunch.
