East Wickham Primary Academy is a large 3 form entry school with a warm caring atmosphere.  The school is an academy, part of The Kemnal Academy Trust.

We are looking for a temporary Teaching Assistant, for the rest of this academic year. Initially the successful candidate will work in upper KS2 but may be required to work in other year groups at times. You will be an enthusiastic individual, keen to enhance our children’s education, who will help our learners stay focused and on task. You will support the teacher and take small groups as directed. You will need to be flexible in your approach to the different needs of our pupils, have a sense of humour and a calm manner.

Experience of working with children in a professional setting would be an advantage, especially in KS2. Experience of and the ability to lead an intervention group would also be an advantage. Ideally the successful candidate will be qualified at NVQ2 or above.

A good personal standard of mathematics and literacy is expected. This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school  therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
