This is an exceptional opportunity as we look for someone to join us at this incredibly exciting time in the school’s history. The governors of this highly successful 11-16 Voluntary Aided RC High School are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work with children, who have recognised educational needs, under the direction/supervision of teaching staff.

Responsibilities will include supporting students with a variety of needs to access the curriculum and raise their achievement; develop students study and organizational skills; a contribution to the delivery of differentiated curricula, enabling meaningful inclusion and access to learning for these students.

Inclusion is a fundamental part of our provision for students with additional needs and when it comes to looking after our children we never settle for second best. We are looking for a teaching assistant who can work with individuals, build positive relationships with students to promote interaction and learning. At St Joseph’s we motivate and engage children to believe in themselves through matching care and the education to meet their needs. We believe that all young people can achieve beyond their expectations with support and guidance from professional, exciting and inspirational staff. We have high expectations of all our young people and our staff.

 Our ideal candidate will be

  • An excellent teaching assistant who loves working with children with special educational needs and proactive in helping to inspire them to achieve high standards and realise their potential
  • A great team player who can work successfully in collaboration with others and contribute towards the ethos of the school and its school improvement activities
  • Someone who enjoys the challenge and can bring the vision, passion and drive to raise standards in all aspects of school life.
  • Be fully committed to working collaboratively with the wider school community

We can offer you

  • An attractive working environment and supportive families

  • 100% focus on improving outcomes from the children in our school

Whilst previous experience is desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and resilience are just as important. This role would suit candidates with skills such as graduates possibly looking for a career in teaching, customer facing industries, including retail, hospitability and leisure looking for a new role that makes a real difference to children’s lives. Educated to GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths you will be calm, engaging, and resilient, enjoy working as part of a team, and be genuinely motivated by helping every child to reach their potential
