"The school’s vision that ‘it is not enough for young people to be loved, they must know that they are loved’ permeates the school’s culture" Ofsted May 2017
The school was judged “good” by Ofsted in May 2017 and “outstanding” by the Archdiocese of Southwark in May 2019. Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school, in the heart of Battersea, strives to ensure that all its young people are given the opportunity and support they need to achieve their best, fulfill their true potential and go out into the world confident and ready to ‘earn their own bread.’
St John Bosco College are looking to appoint an able, highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive, passionate and dedicated team of professionals. Our mission is based around ‘without confidence and love, there can be no true education’. We are therefore looking for candidates who are committed to securing high standards and raising academic attainment for all students. As an TA for the DT and Art Departments you will lead in supporting the school’s dedicated team of Design Technology and Art teachers in preparing for practical lessons for students and then supporting students in classes.
The main responsibilities of the TA role will be preparation of resources for DT and Art lessons and supporting in class both with individual students and small groups under the teacher’s guidance.
Previous experience of supporting secondary aged students would be desirable but is not essential. You must have good literacy and numeracy skills. You must be committed and reliable with excellent communication skills along with a calm, patient and empathetic nature.
It is also an opportunity for career development as the school offers a regular training program including access to NVQ qualification for Teaching Assistants.
Applications are invited from those with good interpersonal skills and experience in working in creative departments in a school environment.
Completed application should be returned to the school either by email or post. CVs are not accepted. Please note that if you complete the application form on an Apple Mac you must use ‘Adobe Acrobat Reader’ (you can get it here: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/ ) and not the ‘Preview’ application that comes with the computer due to an incompatibility.
Closing date: Noon Monday 2nd September 2019
Interview Date: Wednesday 4th September 2019
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
