Job overview

Due to new learner intake this new academic year Sheiling College is looking for a small number of enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistants and Bank Teaching Assistants to complement our College Education team.

Working with our students aged 19-25 years who have varied learning needs and often quite complex support needs, you’ll be assisting our teachers and other colleagues to deliver learning programmes; both in the classroom and the community. Typically, your role will be to support the class teacher to deliver specific curriculum sessions, working on a 1-1 basis helping students in their small class group, attending to their learning and physical needs including therapy programmes

Applicants should be good communicators, empathetic, creative and passionate about education. You bring the motivation and we will provide a position which offers tremendous fulfilment, plus a fantastic range of training and support to develop your skills in this sector.

We have a large beautiful site with lots of open, green spaces and woodland that provides a peaceful, therapeutic setting and a dynamic teaching environment. Within the 50 acres are classrooms, student residential accommodation (large, spacious houses), a purpose built therapy building, a multipurpose hall (with a large stage for performances), a gymnasium, a shallow heated indoor swimming pool, a variety of indoor and outdoor workshops and a large kitchen garden which provide ample opportunity for creative, experiential learning.

In collaboration with our residential care colleagues and extensive therapy team, we aim to provide holistic, innovative and effective care and education to match the interests, skills and aspirations of our students and meet their individual needs.

The Sheiling Ringwood is an independent, residential special school and college and it provides a strong foundational core to enable our employees to provide the highest quality of care. We offer day and residential care within a beautiful environment where staff- whatever their job role – have the opportunity to make a real and positive difference.
