Pre-Preparatory School

The Haberdashers’ Boys’ School is seeking to appoint two Teaching Assistants (one EYFS and one for KS1) in the Pre-Preparatory School, assisting in the delivery of the educational programme and curriculum as well as the extra-curricular provision. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing EYFS and KS1 department.

Reporting to the Head of Pre-Prep, you will be supporting the children with their learning, working under the direction of the class teacher - whether in the whole class or on their own, with a small group or an individual.

All applicants must have experience of supporting children in EYFS/Key Stage 1 and possess an approved Level 3 qualification.

This post is term time only (35 weeks per year to include INSET days, plus five days to be worked during the school holidays) 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. You are required to work such hours as are reasonably necessary for the proper performance of your duties. The role will require occasional evenings. 

Full time equivalent salary up to circa £24,267 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Actual salary up to £19,854 per annum. The school also offers a range of generous benefits.

Haberdashers' Boys' School is a large independent school located in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1690, the all-through school educates around 1,200 boys aged 5-18, all of whom are day pupils.

The School has a selective admissions policy, with prospective students for the senior school expected to pass entrance exams across a range of subjects. The best-performing boys are interviewed to ascertain their suitability for a place at the School. Entrance to the pre-prep and prep departments is also selective, with assessed playgroup sessions and exams used depending on the boy’s age.
