About the role

Briar Hill Primary School is looking for a Teaching Assistant  with  skills that complement our successful, happy, supportive team. You must possess a natural nurturing ability, want to encourage children to achieve and be a good team player. You will be a good communicator, have a good use of the English language, be trustworthy, reliable, take pride in what you do and above all else, be an exemplary role model to small children.

27.5 hours per weeks, 39 weeks per year, this is a permanent role.

Who we are looking for 

Good numeracy/literacy skills

Knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures relevant to safeguarding and health and safety

Someone to undertake training as required, such as first aid training, training, ADHD, Altruism, Epilepsy, use of Epi-pen, allergies, fire safety training, “team teach"

Experience providing support to pupils in understanding instructions; supporting independent learning and inclusion of all pupils; and supporting the teacher in behaviour management and keeping pupils on task

Previous experience assisting with break-time supervision including facilitating games and activities and escorting pupils on educational visits

Experience working with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and providing feedback to the teacher

Proven ability to carry out allocated tasks

About Briar Hill Primary School

Briar Hill Primary and Nursery School is an 3-11 school, based in the town of Northampton. In May 2016 the school was judged as good by Ofsted. We are now on our way to outstanding as we have continued to ensure rapid progress is made to improve the quality of education for all pupils. 

Briar Hill is therefore seeking to recruit staff who will have high expectations of all pupils and will work with our skilled team to secure improved outcomes and life chances for the young people in our community.
