Job overview

Are you committed and passionate about making a difference to the life chances of our students? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity, in a successful school where every child truly matters?   We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed and forward thinking Teaching Assistant, who is passionate about supporting our young people.  You will be joining our Inclusion Team, who are all dedicated to their work in supporting students at Gosford Hill School. You will work closely alongside classroom teachers to address barriers to learning and provide the best possible educational experience for students with SEND. The post is suitable for someone who either already has experience working with young people in schools, or someone who would like the opportunity to see what working in a school environment is like, and who may be thinking of a career in teaching in the future.

Our school is part of the River Learning Trust; our collective vision is to be a Trust where pupils and staff thrive in schools which demonstrate:

  • all-round education, academic success, lifelong learning and strength of character
  • sustainable continuous improvement; no school standing still
  • all schools being good and outstanding, or improving rapidly
  • collaboration that is raising standards, and reducing workload
  • where pupils, staff, parents and communities value all we do to support the best possible outcomes and experiences for our children and young people
  • This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.

The River Learning Trust and Gosford Hill School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism. All staff must ensure that the highest priority is given to following the guidance and regulations to safeguard children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Employment will also be conditional on the receipt of at least two acceptable references (one from current/latest employer) and evidence of the formal qualifications required for the role.

The River Learning Trust is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from a range of backgrounds to represent diversity in line with our schools’ community. It is an offence to apply for certain roles within schools if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. You should contact the school if you are unsure if this role includes regulated activity relevant to children. Welcome to Gosford Hill School

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Gosford Hill School. Our school prides itself on the emphasis that we place on the needs, aspirations and achievement of individual students with learning very much at the heart of our work. We want our students to develop as resilient and autonomous learners, keen to overcome challenges, and take risks, so that they gain the transferable skills needed to enable them to lead fulfilling lives as confident and articulate individuals in our society.

Every student has strengths and talents, and it is our job to find and unlock that potential in every student. Whether it’s sport, art, music, Duke of Edinburgh or World Challenge, we celebrate success and recognise that learning goes beyond the classroom. Students are often more likely to remember the wealth and diverse range of opportunities available to them beyond the classroom as they are faced with new and exciting challenges.

We work closely with parents, and it is our belief that where the school, individual student and their parents work closely together, students will succeed.

It’s a privilege to lead such a wonderful school and I do hope that you find the information on our website helpful. There is so much more to learn about our school though, so I would therefore urge you to come and visit us in order to find out and experience for yourself why students, parents, staff and our wider community are so proud of our school.

Mr Nigel J. Sellars
Headteacher

School Vision and Ethos
