The City Academy Hackney is looking to make further appointments to our committed team of Teaching Assistants within the Faculty of Learning, where our SEND First approach ensures inclusive education for all. 

For this position, you must have a keen interest in Science, including either Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

The role involves working under the direction of faculty staff and teachers to support students’ access to the curriculum. Working in class as well as in group or individual situations, you will build a professional and supportive relationship with students, promoting their confidence and self-esteem. You will use your skills to motivate and encourage learning and manage challenging behaviour. It is an exciting and demanding job, but one that offers big rewards.

In addition to your subject specialism, key requirements are:

·        a passion for supporting SEND including emotional, social and mental health needs and second language learners

·        the ability to build positive relationships with young people

·        an ability to adhere to the school behaviour policy

·        a sensitive, caring and patient approach

·        the ability to work collaboratively within a team

·        a firm commitment to ensuring that regardless of gender, ethnicity or religion students achieve to the best of their ability. 

Familiarity with special educational needs, neuro-diversity or disability, either personally or through someone close to you, would also be a real advantage.
