UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park is currently looking to recruit a suitably qualified Skills Trainer for Sports & PE.   


The post holder will be required to work at UTC OLP delivering a variety of PE / Sports lessons and activities.  In this role we would hope that you can enthuse our students to develop a joy of participation and we would hope you would be able to offer a range of diverse activities to suit all of our students. 


They will also support / lead attendance at external fixtures / trips and take an active role with enrichment activities, which may include Duke of Edinburgh.  


In addition, the Skills Trainer will be required to supervise classes across the curriculum when there are planned / unplanned absences of staff members, ensuring that students are engaging in pre-set work and managing student behaviour to ensure a safe learning environment.


Applicants should have experience of facilitating learning / working with students in a formal setting without supervision and experience of supervising / organising / coaching sports activities.


It is desirable that you should also have experience of monitoring learner progress in ways that deliver excellent outcomes, and experience of providing learner support including undertaking

1:1 support sessions.


As a skills trainer you will also be given form tutor roles such as registering students and supporting the delivery of the tutorial learning programme.

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational University Technical College situated in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This sponsor-led academy is part of The Sheffield UTC Academy Trust, alongside its sister institution, UTC Sheffield City Centre.  UTC Derby Pride Park joined the Trust in December 2019.  All 3 UTCs have been judged Good by Ofsted.

University Technical Colleges are secondary schools for students aged 13–19. They combine technical, practical and academic learning to deliver an education that goes beyond traditional GCSEs and A-levels.

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, which opened in September 2016, is provided with support from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council. A smaller than average secondary school, it provides 600 places when fully subscribed.
