Surbiton High School requires a passionate and motivated coach to join the team and assist in the development of our Tennis Programme. The role will involve working with Surbiton High Girls Preparatory School and Surbiton High Boys Preparatory School, running mini tennis squads following through into the Senior School with curriculum lessons, after school clubs and potentially sessions with scholars.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist the Head of Tennis in coaching and the promotion of the Tennis Programme at Surbiton High School
- To increase the number of pupils playing tennis particularly in the preparatory schools
- By providing high quality, enjoyable tennis lessons and coaching sessions
- By offering taster sessions, internal competitions, tennis matches
- To improve the performance of school tennis teams
- Assisting with tennis matches, squad training and clubs throughout the year
- Scouting for and attracting high performers
- To raise the profile of tennis within SHS and in the community
- Publicise successes and achievements in assemblies, website, newsletter and local press
- Ensure tennis is delivered throughout the year in all 3 schools
- To develop more internal competition among pupils
- Class/Year group competitions
- House competitions
- Charity tournaments
- Parent child tournaments
The successful candidate will be likely to fit the following profile:
- Experienced tennis coach with at least a LTA Level 2 Coaching qualification or equivalent
- LTA accredited or willing to work towards it
- Evidence of further relevant professional development
- The ability to inspire, motivate and support pupils and colleagues in a successful and dynamic school
- Strong playing standard desirable
- A proven track record of delivering on tennis performance
- Evidence of successful, inspiring and innovative coaching at all levels
- Experience of collaborating with colleagues
- Up-to-date knowledge of successful and innovative teaching within a tennis background and the latest curriculum developments and initiatives
- High levels of personal and professional integrity and an ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
- Personal warmth to gain the confidence of pupils, staff and parents
- Ability to communicate concisely and sensitively, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences
- Positive, enthusiastic and energetic approach to life
- High expectations for pupil attainment, personal development and conduct
