Job overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Theatre Technician to work in our state-of-the-art 400 seat Rose Theatre. The successful candidate will work closely with the Theatre Manager and the Director of Drama providing technical support for whole school events and productions. Ability in using and maintaining sound and lighting equipment,set building, technical rigging, lifting and carrying, and working safely at heights is expected. An electronics background is an advantage. There is a requirement to work with children. The post is part time for 1,400 hours per annum and includes evening and weekend work, mostly during term time. Some holiday work will also be expected, particularly at half terms. St Mary's School Ascot is a leading Roman Catholic girls' boarding school set in 55 acres of beautiful grounds in the heart of Berkshire. There are 120 pupils in the sixth form. We are committed to full boarding, with spaces for a few day pupils living nearby. St Mary’s has a strong reputation as an academic school within the Catholic tradition. Entry to the school is selective. All pupils are expected to take 9 or 10 GCSEs, and almost all stay on for the Sixth Form to pursue their A Levels. Our leavers invariably go on to higher education, the vast majority to Russell Group universities or similar, including 10-15% to Oxbridge.
