Contract dates – Immediate start – temporary contract  

Smart Teachers is recruiting for a Therapeutic Educational Practitioner to work full time in and around the London Borough of Newham. This full-time position is for Monday to Friday and will be on a temporary contract. The ideal Therapeutic Educational Practitioner will have experience with outreach work and community work with special needs children. This role is to work with children who have social, emotional, and mental health needs. 

The role

• Therapeutic Educational Practitioner    

• Immediate start 

• Full time position working with secondary aged students.  

• All children will display challenging behaviour. 

• Could be working with children with ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties or selective mutism. 

• To be a positive role model supporting students with a variety of needs 

• Supporting the students with communication and building self confidence 

• Liaising with associated external companies and parents.

• Working 1:1 and in small groups 

• Outreach work 

• Will be working in the community and within the school hub. 

The school

• Centre for secondary aged students who have difficulty accessing education. 

• All children will display varying levels of challenging behaviour. 

• Based in East London, with some of the roles requiring work in the community. 

• Outreach work in a variety of other boroughs 

• Supportive team with positive leadership 

• Great transport links

Requirements

To be considered for the Therapeutic Educational Practitioner position, you will:

• Have previous experience working with secondary aged SEN students.  

• Must have experience with challenging behaviour and SEMH.  

• NQTs and/or OS-trained teachers are welcome to apply.

• Have strong communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.

• Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)

• Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checks
