Ofsted “Outstanding” January 2017

Job Summary

As we seek to develop our already outstanding school, we are looking for motivated, ambitious and highly skilled individuals who wish to enter teaching. We are able to host trainees in a range of subjects at our school (Debden Park High School) or at our partner schools in Waltham Abbey (King Harold Academy) and Chelmsford (Hylands School), where you will ‘learn to teach on the job’ in supportive and stimulating environments. In addition, you will have a weekly training day delivered by our outstanding and experienced practitioners at Debden Park High School.

Debden Park High School is a heavily oversubscribed Academy that constantly achieves outstanding outcomes for its students. Last year’s GCSE results put us in the top 10 most successful non-selective successful schools in Essex, and our growing Sixth Form – first opened in 2015 – achieved a 100% pass rate in our first set of A-Level results. As a National Teaching School, we lead a family of schools as part of the Kemnal Academies Trust, providing exceptional career progression and bespoke CPD experiences for our staff, which has led to our middle and senior leadership teams being composed of many teachers who began their career with us.

You will be training through our School Centred Initial Teacher Training Programme, which is a school-based route into teaching for high-quality graduates and career-changers, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE qualification. Trainees will work alongside highly qualified and inspiring teachers to provide a range of teaching and learning support.  Once qualified, we also offer a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Programme, valuable mentoring opportunities and support to progress into a Leadership role and beyond.

Applicants must have:

  • a UK (or equivalent) subject-related degree at 2:2 or above (or a degree and subject related A-Levels);
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English at Grade C/4 or above;
  • the right to work in the UK.
