Job overview

Thank you for your interest in our Trust Educational Psychologist role. The Midland Academies Trust is committed to inclusive education and is aspirant for its academies in providing the very best education, care and support for pupils with special educational needs. All children will have the right to a broad and balanced curriculum including extra-curricular activities where appropriate and full access to the National Curriculum. This post is required to ensure a joined up approach to supporting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and to enable them to achieve highly with us.

The Midland Academies Trust (MAT) is a family of four secondary schools working in collaboration with North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College. We serve about 3,000 students in the Nuneaton and North Warwickshire area.  We work at the heart of our local community with the common goal of ‘Creating Successful Futures’ for students in our care, and we are looking for people who share our vision. Our 4 academies (The George Eliot School, Hartshill School, The Nuneaton Academy and Heath Lane Academy) are located within a 10 mile radius and our proximity provides a strong position for collaborative working and reflects a deep commitment to our community. There is a strong collegiate atmosphere within our Trust and all academies enjoy the benefits of collaboration and mutual support for professional development in all its aspects. When you join any of our Trust, you become part of a family, where we believe that our staff are our greatest resource. Everything we do as a Trust has to fulfil the twin aims of accelerating student progress and reducing staff workload – if it doesn’t achieve both we simply don’t do it.

All schools within the Trust are united in their vision to rapidly improve the learning experience of their pupils and raise the aspirations of the local communities which they serve. There is a strong collegiate atmosphere within our Trust. We operate shared policies, systems and processes to ensure that our collaboration creates efficiencies in practice. We want it to be easy for our staff to help pupils achieve well and be prepared for a successful future. That’s why we continually review how we work to accelerate pupil progress whilst reducing staff workload. More details about our strategy and commitments can be found in the attached ‘MAT Our Approach’ booklet.

The Midland Academies Trust appoints leaders who have a passion for making a difference locally, who demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and self-assurance, and who welcome collaboration and challenge seeking to work with others across the Trust to maximise the benefits of localism and ultimately deliver the best education for our young people.

The successful applicant will work across all four schools to ensure successful outcomes for pupils with an identification of Special educational needs or a disability.  Applications must be made using our Trust application form, including a supporting statement of no more than 2 pages of A4, outlining your experience to date, and why you believe you are the right candidate for this post.

If you would like further information regarding the role please email Sue Beech, Trust Senior Business Manager: susan.beech@midlandat.co.uk

Closing date for applications: midnight on Thursday 27th May 2021

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of our students.  The successful applicant will therefore be required to complete an enhanced DBS.
