Job overview

St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced ICT professional to work as part of the Central services IT team. The role will initially be based between our two secondary schools and Trust Headquarters. The purpose of the role is to provide a proactive and reactive service within the Trust, to ensure that day to day IT networks and provision are maintained effectively and efficiently across our central team and secondary schools - as well as to assist in the provision of specialist IT support services for students, staff and the curriculum. The successful candidate will report to, and also work with, the Director of Digital Learning and IT, developing a central cloud based infrastructure.

Within our schools there is a need to develop a more consistent approach to in school IT support, and the successful candidate will also be a key member of the team involved in developing this.

The Trust was formed in October 2017, as a two primary school MAT. The Trust comprises six schools, with a further two primary schools and two secondary schools. The Trust is part of the Salford Diocese. In September 2022, the Bishop has confirmed that it is the intention of the Diocese to work to wholly implement a full MAT model by 2030. In view of this, and expected Trust growth, the Board of Directors now feel it is appropriate to increase central capacity.

Our Trust footprint sits across the local authorities of Bolton, Bury, Salford, Rochdale and parts of Wigan. Over the coming months Trust Leaders are keen to build strong working relationships with all schools across this footprint, regardless of whether they are part of our Trust. Each predecessor area has taken a different approach to the management of IT infrastructure, as well as how schools use technology as a learning tool.

Significant work has been done to create a coherent Trust infrastructure. Local Governance processes have been aligned, and we are now moving towards more corporate provision in terms of HR and Finance support. Schools are in the process of moving towards STOC email addresses and a full audit of current IT infrastructure and provision has taken place. It is an exciting time to be part of our Trust. In March 2022 we moved into our Trust Headquarters in the centre of Bury, and this includes space for CPD delivery and leadership meetings.

Our Trust is very much at the beginning of its digital journey. Our schools are keen to work together to find the best digital learning solutions, and it is vital that we are able to communicate effectively Trust wide using appropriate platforms. Building the infrastructure to support this is the critical first step in enabling technology to make lives better across all the schools in our Trust. In addition to supporting our schools, the successful candidate will therefore play a key role in helping the Director of Digital Learning and IT to develop our central Trust network.

Within our schools there is a need to develop a more consistent approach to in school IT support, and the successful candidate will also be a key member of the team involved in developing this.

The Trust Network Manager will be a key individual within the Central Team. You will be optimistic, driven, but also humble.

In return we offer:

  •  LGPS pension scheme
  • Recognition of public sector continuous service
  • Generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years continuous service
  • Access to Employee Assistance Programme
  • Opportunities for growth and professional development within the context of a growing Trust
  • Central Bury location close to transport links
  • Car parking at Trust Headquarters, with on-site canteen and free gym

Applicants are strongly urged to arrange a conversation with the Director of Digital Learning and IT and visits to the central office to discuss this role are encouraged. Initial contact should be made with our Trust Executive Assistant Hayley Collier hcollier@stoccat.org.uk

Closing date: Midnight Sunday 5th February 2023
