School Details –

HeadStart is based in the centre of Phuket Island and gained ‘International School’ status in 2010 and is a fully accredited International School with The Education Development Trust. In our most recent inspection, we were awarded the International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM) with accreditors recognising the school to be a ‘Good School with Outstanding Features’.

Our curriculum is based on the national curriculum of England and we offer Cambridge & Pearson qualifications in Secondary including IGCSEs, A Levels and BTECs. The school's main campus at Chaofah has 960 students on roll and is oversubscribed in most year groups.

In August 2023 we opened a new campus in the north of the island in Cherngtalay. This is a single form entry Foundation and Primary school for up to 200 students. In August 2024 the school will expand to become a two form entry school from Preschool to Year 9.

University Counsellor (Chaofah Campus) –

Due to the reconfiguration of the leadership team due to school expansion, we are looking to appoint an additional experienced University Counsellor to the Upper School Team (Choafah Campus) to begin in August 2024. This position will report to the Head of the Sixth Form and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our University Preparation Programme (UPrep) alongside the rest of the UPrep Team.

The UPrep Team at HeadStart is a crucial element of our Sixth Form Academic and Pastoral Guidance Team. Working closely with our pastoral leaders and academic programme coordinators, the UPrep Team is involved in the education and guidance of all students and parents. From identifying interests and passions to targeting careers and future study programmes, the team is focused on supporting all our students in finding their 'best fit', personalised pathway to and beyond college.

The UPrep Team works with all school sections to gain an in-depth understanding of student ambitions, abilities and goals. This understanding is essential in supporting students and families in university and post-secondary planning. 

The role is challenging and busy, requiring collaboration with colleagues and parents, an advanced understanding of best educational practices, and a willingness to be flexible. The successful candidate will have a professional and inclusive outlook on teamwork. 

We are looking for a highly committed team player with drive, energy, and passion who will inspire a love of learning in their students. A good sense of humour and an excellent work ethic are essential.

Requirements / Application Details –

Essential Requirements:

• Have a good working knowledge of UK, USA, European/Dutch, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canadian and Australian admissions processes and systems.
• Have a relevant qualification/certification in university counselling and at least two years of relevant experience working within a secondary school setting.
• Excellent knowledge of the English National curriculum for KS4 & KS5 and experience teaching within the UK or in an international school setting.
• At least two years experience in a similar role. 
• A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. 
• A recognised teaching qualification: BEd.; PGCE; or equivalent. 
• Must be a fluent English speaker.
• Have a working knowledge of university application platforms.

Desirable Requirements (not essential):

• Previous experience in an International School environment.
• Experience of teaching to English as an Additional Language learners.
• Have a knowledge of Thai admissions processes and systems.
