The Academy was established in Almancil in 2015 to provide a happy environment which promotes a love of learning in every child.

It is of the utmost importance that each child attains the confidence to believe, thus subsequently they will progress further forwards and achieve in the areas they individually have interest and talent in.

Our principal aims are to encourage each and every student to:

  • Be their best
  • Develop their individual talents and passions
  • Explore, enjoy and excel inside and outside the classroom
  • Be healthy and stay safe
  • Acquire an understanding of the world and global issues.
  • Have respect, manners and integrity.
  • To develop confidence and self-worth.

The Academy and all the staff involved will endeavour to inspire each child to reach their full potential.

This is enhanced by small class sizes and vibrant, imaginative teaching.

We hope that all our pupils find the inspiration to become the very best that they can be, no matter what their talents are.

It is our objective for every child to develop a positive and proactive attitude towards learning which will support them throughout their lives.

The Academy provides a caring, nurturing environment to enable every pupil to develop into a rounded, confident individual, well prepared for secondary education and beyond.

We want each and every pupil to be valued as an individual, so their Academy experience is much more than just going to school – rather, a personalised learning journey.

Belief

Small class size matters

In education, if you could choose for your child to be educated in a class of 27 pupils or a class of 10 pupils, we know which option you would choose. Academic results at boarding schools are high; one of the reasons for this is the small class size. Small classes really involve students. Small classes surround students with attention and encouragement. Teachers provide this attention and encouragement as part of how they guide students' learning, but the small group fosters sharing and even a sense of teamwork as concepts are explored, discussed and worked through together.

At The Academy, our belief is that limiting the size of the class means that each student has the opportunity to focus more and accelerate their learning.

A smaller class allows our teachers to get to know your child better. Our teachers are able to provide more individual attention to your child, there are fewer distractions during the lesson, your child has the opportunity to ask more questions and the bond between teacher and student becomes stronger.

It is our belief that students really do learn more when classes are small. They learn faster. They progress through the material quicker and they also develop their confidence quicker too.
