Job overview
Define their future with your unwavering standards.
Salford City Academy is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.
At United Learning Academies, we’re committed to giving every child a fair start in life. We do this through a combination of high academic standards and the mentorship needed to instil a love of learning. Salford City Academy is a shining example of this. As a medium-sized comprehensive, this vibrant school lies at the heart of its community in Eccles, Manchester. With an ethos of improving the life chances of all young people – set in a modern building that enjoys impressive facilities – we are now seeking to build on our ‘Good’ Ofsted report by ensuring that teaching is good every lesson, every day to ensure that our students continue to make excellent progress. Working alongside Principal Melanie Haselden who was appointed in April 2017, you will therefore join a team of ambitious senior leaders to ensure every pupil achieves their best.
In an area in which the proportion of students eligible for student premium funding is above national average, we are particularly proud of Ofsted’s findings that ‘the students’ behaviour and attitude to learning is good’. As such, you will work with the leadership team to continue our mission to improve and develop all aspects of this lively school. Inspiring better leadership by raising student and staff expectations, you will monitor the success of these strategies by conducting performance management reviews. Offering supportive line management, you will ensure your passion for high quality education permeates down to your classrooms, resulting in a dynamic learning culture for the young people under your guidance. You will also take responsibility for those requiring 6th day provision, and you will develop our policies on pastoral care (including areas such as bullying and safeguarding), maintaining good student behaviour and securing optimum attendance levels.
Enthusiastic about making education fun and inclusive, you will be a qualified teacher with evidence of CPD. With excellent management skills gained in a secondary school, you will have a minimum of five years current and continuous experience. Having previously implemented safeguarding, behaviour and welfare strategies that have proved beneficial to the students, your outstanding teaching methods up to GCSE standards will have produced good results for your pupils. With hands-on experience of what it takes to effectively implement School Improvement Planning, you will also be able to inspire results amongst your colleagues. A natural leader, your exemplary communication skills will ensure you are able to build good relationships with all stakeholders including parents and governors.
So if you have the ability to nurture high standards, the compassion to protect the moral, spiritual and cultural development of the pupils and a solid understanding of what it takes to excel in all national performance measures, then let’s discuss how we can work together.
