We are looking for a highly motivated and inspirational senior leader who is passionate about education and driven to transform the life chances of children.

Welcome to Shoreham Academy – a unique, successful and dynamic school at the heart of the communities of Shoreham and Southwick. The moment you walk through the door at Shoreham Academy you can feel the buzz, energy and excitement of an inclusive school that focuses on the enrichment, enhancement and learning of all children.

We are an 11-18, non-selective academy where everyone – staff and students alike – strive to be the best they can be. We see each child as an individual and seek to give them an education which best suits their abilities and interests. As adults we also see ourselves as a work in progress and invest heavily in our own professional development in order to remain challenged by what we do and inspirational in what we can give. We seek to employ enthusiastic, dynamic and inspiring staff to join us in working creatively with our young people and enabling them all to achieve great things.

We focus on nurturing the whole child; our broad and balanced curriculum is complemented by a wide-ranging and exciting programme of extracurricular activities. There is something for every child at Shoreham Academy – whatever their interests, whatever their abilities. All students participate in the Shoreham Academy Experience with the expectation of fulfilling a number of ‘pledges’ in preparation for adult life.

The role

We wish to appoint an experienced senior leader to join an excellent leadership team. You will have a significant experience of strategic school leadership, with a strong and tangible track record of impact. You will have varied and meaningful opportunities to develop professionally, including access to the United Learning Trainee Headship Programme.

Shoreham Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children therefore all positions in the school will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

To comply with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, all prospective employees will be required to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.

About You

  • Are you an inspirational and strategic leader who aspires to headship, is passionate about education and cares deeply about transforming the life chances of children?
  • Do you have the highest expectations of yourself and those around you in providing an outstanding climate for learning and development?
  • Do you want to work in an outstanding and inclusive academy that continually seeks to improve, driven to being a truly great school?

As Vice Principal at Shoreham Academy, you will deliver outstanding leadership, motivation and inspiration to students, staff, parents and the wider community. You will ensure all students are confident and respectful of others and achieve beyond their expectations. A Vice Principal at Shoreham Academy will bring out ‘the best in everyone’.

United Learning

Shoreham Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
