Job overview

We are looking to appoint an extra-curricular, well-qualified and inspiring dance teacher to join the continuously growing dance provision at Bedales school. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a thriving department, twinned with drama. Both our curricular and extra-curricular performances are highly accomplished and we pride ourselves in offering a variety of opportunities to our students. 

Currently, we follow the ISTD Syllabus for Ballet, Modern and Tap, but we would also be interested in other qualifications as well, therefore, experience in these areas is essential. The role is perfect for someone passionate and keen to help continue to inspire the students. 

The successful candidate will have sound subject knowledge, excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, an ability to build up positive and inspiring rapport with students and an appreciation of the ethos and aims of Bedales in this valuable part-time context.

Bedales School is an independent, co-educational, selective, day and boarding school for children aged 3-18. It is situated in Petersfield in Hampshire and there are 460 pupils on its roll. There are admission fees and scholarships and bursaries are available.

Bedales is a charitable trust and was founded in 1893 by J H Badley as a humane alternative to the authoritarian regimes of the late-Victorian public schools. Its founding ethos was, and still is, “Head, Hand and Heart.”
