About the role 

Reporting to the Manager: Creative and Studio, the Website Officer is responsible for supporting web presence and marketing for SCS. This role will create new landing pages, maintain and update website content, monitor and optimise website performance, and manage the site’s functionality and appearance to ensure SCS’s strategic priorities are met. The Website Officer will assume the role of subject matter expert for web-related topics.

Major Accountabilities

The Website Officer is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to :

  • creating and maintaining SCS directorates and individual school websites using a WordPress multi-site platform
  • creating and managing all school website content to suit SCS’s tone of voice and strategic direction
  • producing, directing and managing photo and video shoots for school and system websites
  • working collaboratively with the Website Coordinator, content specialists and the Communications and Marketing team to ensure consistent messaging, tone of voice and strategic direction
  • maintaining constant communication with colleagues and clients to develop and deploy their content
  • updating global content across 145 websites in line with specific system projects.
  • sharing the management of the web support portal with the Website Coordinator to provide solutions for school website issues
  • developing and maintaining school website search engine optimisation (SEO).
  • designing and developing of site maps for custom websites
  • populating content of custom websites and adding SCS content when requested.
  • managing of website images in terms of suitability and optimisation
  • promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools’ mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
  • promoting and abiding by Sydney Catholic Schools’ values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth
  • any other duties as directed from time to time.

The Person

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • experienced and understanding of SEO
  • a minimum of five years experience using enterprise web and content management platforms such as WordPress and Google
  • experienced in:
    • Website design of new or updated school and system websites (of effective solutions to satisfy client requirements).
    • Website development of new or updated school and system websites (themes, pages, elements, plug-ins).
    • Understanding effective UX design & optimum customer journey.
    • Content management and upload.
    • User guide creation and education, user training and ongoing support.
    • Ability to resize and optimise photos for the web.
    • Ability to be flexible, show initiative and respond quickly when situations change
  • demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills
  • demonstrated ability to write fluently in a range of styles and formats and manage content to suit SCS tone of voice and strategic direction
  • demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • proven high attention to detail and creative flair
  • demonstrated high-level time management skills and ability to prioritise and juggle multiple deadlines
  • demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and autonomously
  • demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • demonstrated high-level stakeholder management
  • a current driver’s licence
  • willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools
  • ability to address and meet focus capabilities, as stated in the Role Description.
