The catchment area for RPPS is one of the most exciting in London. Next to Ravenscourt Park itself, the school is within easy travelling distance of Hammersmith and Richmond.

The pastoral ethos of RPPS is that of a family and social hub, giving emotional support and security to all pupils and employees. Each pupil receives individual attention both educationally and pastorally.

RPPS currently sends pupils to all of the leading senior schools in London including St Paul’s, Latymer, City Of London, Hampton, Ibstock Place, Lady Eleanor Holles, Francis Holland, Godolphin and Latymer, Notting Hill and Ealing, Kew House School, King’s Wimbledon and many others.

OUR PHILOSOPHY AND VALUES

These are the main principles of our educational philosophy:

1. We believe that each child should be nurtured, inspired and motivated to allow them to fulfil their full potential.

3. We engender confidence and self-esteem, leading to intellectual risk taking and a love of learning.

4. We cultivate values of respect, compassion, tolerance and community responsibility in each child.

5. We are non-selective in our approach to admissions.

Our values reflect our philosophy and permeate all aspects of school life and apply to all members of our community:

1. Excellence in teaching and learning – we are committed to the provision of the highest standard of education for each child and we always celebrate achievement, however small.

2. Communication – we operate a true “Open Door Policy” where we make ourselves available to those who need to speak to us and communicate face to face whenever possible. The school is a welcoming place for parents and their involvement in school life is regarded as essential.

3. Innovation and flexibility – we continuously reflect on our practice, constantly seeking to improve. We encourage initiative and embrace change

4. Our place in the world – we promote the understanding of what it means to grow up in a Britain of the 21st century, preparing our children to make positive contributions in school, work and life.

5. We value education as a journey and not simply as a method for passing exams.

About Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School

Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School is a lively, co-educational and inclusive independent school for children from 4 to 11 years old. There is a palpable sense of community at RPPS, and visitors often comment on the warm and happy atmosphere, and the family feel that they notice around the school. Our holistic approach to education means that we place great importance upon the intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development of each child, and our talented and dedicated teaching team nurtures and inspires the children so that they flourish academically and emotionally.

We encourage our children to develop a ‘growth mindset’ approach towards their learning so that they appreciate the value of practice, hard work and responding to feedback from their teachers and peers. Our pupils are encouraged to take risks, to embrace challenging activities and to view any mistakes that they make along the way as valuable opportunities for further learning, rather than something to be afraid of.

When our pupils emerge at the end of their education and enter the world of work, it will be a very different environment to the one which exists today. We provide opportunities for our children to communicate and collaborate, to think creatively, to persevere with a challenging activity and to be resilient when things don’t go to plan. We encourage our pupils to be adaptable so that they can apply their learning to new activities and questions. We believe that these qualities of communication, collaboration, creativity, perseverance, resilience and adaptability will enable each child to make a valuable contribution to the workplace of the future.

Our children are well prepared for the 11+ examinations in Year Six and we work closely with parents to select the right school for each child.

All pupils are equipped with the essential qualities of kindness and compassion so that, when each child leaves, he or she is skilled and confident to make the most of all the opportunities on offer.

We form strong and trusting partnerships with our parents. We operate an ‘Open Door Policy', where parents’ comments, views, contributions and suggestions are valued. We also welcome parents’ direct support with activities such as hearing children read, accompanying day visits and at special events throughout the year.

This website will give you a glimpse of life at RPPS. Please do explore it thoroughly and I hope you will be inspired to come along to one of our Open Mornings to see for yourself what makes our school such a special place.

I very much look forward to meeting you and your children at RPPS in the near future.
