OUR PHILOSOPHY AND VALUES

These are the main principles of our educational philosophy:

1. We believe that each child should be nurtured, inspired and motivated to allow them to fulfil their full potential.

2. Our approach is holistic with a balanced focus on a child’s intellectual, moral, spiritual, physical and emotional development.

3. We engender confidence and self-esteem, leading to intellectual risk taking and a love of learning.

4. We cultivate values of respect, compassion, tolerance and community responsibility in each child.

5. We are non-selective in our approach to admissions.

Our values reflect our philosophy and permeate all aspects of school life and apply to all members of our community:

1. Excellence in teaching and learning – we are committed to the provision of the highest standard of education for each child and we always celebrate achievement, however small.

2. Communication – we operate a true “Open Door Policy” where we make ourselves available to those who need to speak to us and communicate face to face whenever possible. The school is a welcoming place for parents and their involvement in school life is regarded as essential.

3. Innovation and flexibility – we continuously reflect on our practice, constantly seeking to improve. We encourage initiative and embrace change

4. Our place in the world – we promote the understanding of what it means to grow up in a Britain of the 21st century, preparing our children to make positive contributions in school, work and life.

5. We value education as a journey and not simply as a method for passing exams.

About Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School

Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School is a lively, coeducational and non-selective independent school for children aged four to eleven. Founded in 1991, the school provides an engaging education of the highest quality with a rich curriculum that is varied, exciting and forward -looking whilst also preparing our pupils for transfer at 11 years to some of the best and most selective Independent Schools.

At RPPS we ensure that we focus our support and attention on every single pupil who joins our community.  Our non-selective, child-centered ethos ensures that we cater for the individual.   We believe that all children will succeed when the curriculum inspires them and meets their individual needs, and when they feel valued, supported and happy.
My talented teaching staff and I are committed to nurturing a love of learning across the whole of the school and to bringing out the best in every single child for whom we have responsibility.  We want our pupils to feel confident; confident to ask questions, to challenge, to try something new, to reach forward to challenging goals and experiences and to be happy even to learn from making mistakes.

At RPPS we also believe that forming strong and trusting partnerships with parents is paramount. We operate an Open Door policy, where parents’ comments, views, contributions and suggestions are seen as making a valuable contribution to the continuing improvement and development of the school.   We also welcome parents’ direct support with activities such as hearing children read, accompanying day visits and at special events throughout the year.

The primary years for our pupils provide the foundation for future learning and at Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School we undertake to ensure that the years with us are happy, successful and fulfilling for each and every child.  Our experience and undoubted successes to date confirm that laughter and learning go hand-in-hand and our pupils leave at the end of Year 6 ready for the new challenges ahead and with fond memories of their time with us.
