We are recruiting for the position of Director of Alban Federation to commence January 2020. This is an exceptional career progression opportunity for someone to take on a senior position running teacher training provision for the Alban Federation, based at Sandringham School, St. Albans.

The Alban Federation is an Awarding Body for Initial Teacher Training and delivers high-quality training to around 60 candidates each year, across both secondary and primary phases. Graded Outstanding by Ofsted, we pride ourselves on training adults to become amazing teachers who can then experience an outstanding career in education.

The Federation has been led for the past 7 years by Mark Nicholls, who has moved to deputy headship at Sandringham resulting in this vacancy. The person appointed will lead a team of professional mentors in each of our 22+ provider schools and work closely with Sue Simmons who leads the administrative aspect of the federation. The role of the director will be to provide strategic direction as well as leadership of activities throughout the year, to ensure that the trainees receive the highest-quality training possible and at the end of the year gain QTS. The director of the federation will work closely with senior staff at the provider schools, including the headteachers, and also develop close links with the training arm of the DfE.

We are looking to appoint someone who loves teaching and education, has great personal qualities to help motivate and inspire the next generation of teachers, and who can operate at a strategic level working with headteachers and other senior leaders to deliver outstanding outcomes. You will be based at Sandringham School in the training suite area and share facilities with the Alban Teaching School Alliance.

If you are interested in such a career progression and joining a highly professional organisation that pushes the boundaries of what is possible, we would love to hear from you.
