Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school focussed on providing the very best quality education to all of our pupils with a staff team who are genuinely warm, kind and committed to improving the life chances of the young people we serve.

As part of the restructure of our Senior team, we have created an Assistant Head post to take the lead on the academic progress of our pupils through the development of our assessment systems whilst developing the confidence and competence of staff and subject leader use of data. You will also be responsible for ensuring any students who are not making the most effective progress are identified and supported to achieve.  We serve a community with a high proportion of students eligible for the Pupil Premium and raising the attainment of these students is of particular importance, therefore a well structured strategy to support our cohort of PP students will also be part of your leadership responsibility.  Finally, if you have experience or an interest in timetabling there may be an opportunity to explore this as part of the role, though we can discuss this element and any other interests at interview.

You would not be working in isolation on such a significant set of responsibilities, we have a Vice Principal across the MAT who leads on Data and Assessment as well as a very strong, warm and welcoming Senior leadership team (https://www.egacademy.org.uk/excellence-for-all/senior-leadership-team/).

We have a shared vision that through their schooling, all of our young people will be able to develop the skills, attributes, qualifications and characteristics that will enable them to choose their future career pathway.  A future which will see them achieve success and happiness.

As an Assistant Headteacher you will play an integral role in refining our collective vision of how we can best meet the needs of our students and staff to develop an even more purposeful learning environment which will enable our teachers and support staff to inspire our wonderful students.

If our vision and values resonate with you and you are excited at the prospect of working in a team who aim for excellence and are passionate about changing the life chances of the children we serve, then come and join us.

Please contact either for a discussion or a visit before applying, by emailing Donna Last, the Head's PA, dlast@egacademy.org.uk

This academy is a thriving 11-18 school, with fantastic facilities and a happy, committed team of colleagues whose sole aim is to bring the very best out of our students whilst enjoying their work along the way.

We are part of the Sidney Stringer Academy Multi Academy Trust, which consists of five schools; Sidney Stringer Academy, Ernesford Grange Community Academy, Riverbank Academy (Special School),  Radford Primary Academy and Sidney Stringer Primary School.

Teaching and Learning is at the heart of everything we do alongside the belief that every child can achieve no matter the barriers. We have a very firm no excuses culture and have the highest expectations of our young people and our staff.  Ernesford is a very collaborative, supportive and inclusive school and it is our wonderful staff who drive the culture of belief in the young people and what they can achieve.

Developing our staff to be the best they can be in whatever field they choose is incredibly important and a variety of bespoke CPD opportunities is a key component of our continued improvement in high quality teaching and learning as we invest heavily in this aspect of school life.  This year we are launching a new, vastly improved CPD package offering a variety of pathways alongside investment in NPQs, Masters accreditations and other external professional development opportunities.  When you join the Ernesford team our mission is to keep challenging you to become even better than you ever imagined you could be!
