Job overview
Term Time Only – 36 hours per week
For someone with a calm demeanour, natural authority and a highly organised way of working, this supervisory role offers variety with both cover manager and cover supervisor roles, and is a unique opportunity to join a thriving new school that moved into its new building in January 2021.
The noticeable and purposeful engagement in learning is often commented upon by visitors, with Respect being one of our core values and evident in lessons. This role would suit a person who can demonstrate good behaviour management skills in the classroom, and the ability to co-ordinate and allocate daily cover arrangements for absence teachers. Ideally with A level standard of education, a teacher looking for a different challenge, or a graduate keen to explore career possibilities in the world of education.
Coombe Wood School is in its fourth year of opening in September with around 800 students across years 7, 8, 9, 10 and the new lower sixth. It has been heavily oversubscribed for the 180 places each September.
The successful candidate will benefit from extensive career opportunities, particularly during its final growth phase, in a school with a track record of promoting outstanding performers from within.
We have worked hard to ensure that our core values are practiced in the classroom, to promote a calm environment where learning is encouraged and students take pride in their progress. Combining traditional and cutting edge teaching methods, Coombe Wood uses effective models of in-class support that enable students to be as independent as possible, while receiving the scaffolding they need to encourage achievement.
