Job Start: September 2018

Location: The Queen Elizabeth Academy, Atherstone

Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (Negotiable)

Contract Type: Full-time

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and inspirational Spanish Specialist to join our progressive languages Faculty as Curriculum Leader. As a school, we are passionate about extending our languages options and wish to introduce Spanish to the curriculum. We are, therefore, looking for an experienced classroom practitioner to bring excellent subject knowledge, and a real authority to the position, whilst leading our dynamic department. Through the development of a lifelong interest in a new culture for students, you will motivate them to learn by immersing them in all things Spanish. This is an exciting opportunity to bring a new dimension to the teaching of MFL at TQEA, and to lead and shape the languages department to match our drive for innovation.

The Queen Elizabeth Academy is an 11-16 mixed academy based in Atherstone with approximately 600 pupils on roll. Following our recent Ofsted inspection in May 2017, we were shown to be “Good with Outstanding features”, a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. Our summer examination results were fantastic. Our performance was well above National Averages in key performance criteria and our Progress 8 score of +0.35 was quite stunning. In November 2016, as part of the Priority School Building Programme, we moved into brand new premises that have given us access to fantastic new facilities, which really set us apart in the locality. We are a forward thinking school, always looking for areas to develop and improve as well as being very open to new ideas; we feel this is the best way to ensure consistent development and attainment of our students

What we are looking for – the “Golden Thread”

  1. An individual who is passionate about working in our school.
  2. An individual who is determined to provide the best educational experience for their students.
  3. An individual who wants to continually learn.

We are keen to welcome colleagues who share our passion for engaging students in learning and inspiring them to achieve.

  • Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of our students?
  • Do you have what it takes to work with a determined leadership team and staff, which promote excellence, and consistently challenge you to improve?

If so, then we welcome you to join our team at The Queen Elizabeth Academy.

We actively encourage visits to the school.

The Queen Elizabeth Academy is part of the Academy Transformation Trust family of academies.

We are located in the historic North Warwickshire town of Atherstone. The school’s traditions are founded upon the opening of the original Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in 1573. In 2016 the school moved into a state of the art learning facility which provides outstanding opportunities for our whole community to learn and grow together.

We epitomise our mission that, “We can and we will,” in all we do and the year on year successes our students celebrate is testimony to the lived experience of our core purpose. We provide every TQEA student, from all backgrounds and with all abilities, with an exceptional education underpinned by an ambitious curriculum and high quality teaching. It is a curriculum for all in which students’ talents in Humanities, Technology, Arts, Performance and Music are nurtured along with the Core curriculum of Mathematics, English, Science and Citizenship. In doing so we prepare students for lifelong learning and the opportunity to compete and succeed in their chosen career path. Therefore, for every student we have the highest ambitions and this leads us to expect excellent standards of personal behaviour and mutual respect from all in our community.

Most importantly we are relentless in our care for our students and are committed to safeguarding. We want our students to emerge from their time at TQEA as happy, personally and academically successful young people who are well-prepared to contribute positively as adults to their families and their communities.

We look for a number of outstanding qualities in our staff: an innovative and creative approach to their work; enthusiasm, positivity and an unfaltering commitment to our students’ success, and an open- minded, proactive attitude to working within a team. We want individuals who want to go the extra mile for our community.

Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do and by working together we aim to secure a successful future for all. We encourage those interested in joining our school to spend some time with us to gain a real understanding of our ethos and what we have to offer.

The dedication of the staff and the enthusiasm of the students, coupled with the support of our parents and carers, makes this a special place.
